Gone Is the Gold of the Days
Video, 2018
Gone Is the Gold of the Days is a film poem. Amber’s mother, a painter, disappeared shortly after giving birth to her. Years later, on a rebuilt earth caught in the repetition of the old one, Amber sets out to find her. What she encounters is a white-haired version of herself.
They share a cigarette. They burn a painting. They walk in parallel across scorched ground—never meeting, never leaving.
Memory here is not an origin to be recovered, but an interference pattern: the mother’s absence returns as dislocated time, and as a self encountered from the outside. The search does not lead Amber back to the past. It folds her into its repetition.
《Gone Is the Gold of the Days》是一首电影诗。
