Octopus in Drag

Octopus in Drag is an experimental animation featuring a hybrid creature—a feline-rat-octopus writhing within a pristine white porcelain bathroom. Fusing elements of Voguing and Crip Walk, the creature doesn’t dance to perform—it dances to rupture. Scars of racialization and queer survival split open, leaking form, history, and flesh.

As the octopus mutates, the tiled bathroom implodes. Bodies and architecture collapse in sync, tearing through the boundaries of taxonomy and normativity. Drag aesthetics and Asian historical iconography are appropriated and perverted—used not to celebrate but to contaminate. Urine, smoke, and cheap silver glitter seep through the cracks, injecting a toxic femininity that bites back.

From the bathroom ruins, chrysanthemums bloom—not as symbols of purity, but as spores of mutant rebirth. What emerges is not catharsis, but corrosion. In Octopus in Drag, binaries don’t reconcile—they rot. And in their decomposition, something feral begins to flower.
