Octopus in Drag is an experimental animation centered on a hybrid creature—a feline–rat–octopus contorting inside a white porcelain bathroom. The space is not neutral. Cold tiles and polished surfaces form an antagonistic environment, enforcing a regime of cleanliness, containment, and normativity. Against this sterile order, the creature leaks, spasms, and mutates. Its flesh resists enclosure; its gestures borrow from voguing and the Crip Walk—not as performance, but as acts of breach.
As the confrontation intensifies, the creature’s form begins to splinter. The bathroom’s grid fractures. Bodies and walls collapse together. The logic of hygiene is undone: urine seeps, glitter spreads, smoke coils into corners once reserved for purity. Asian visual motifs—formerly ornamental, decorative—are pulled into decay, corrupted rather than displayed.
From this debris, chrysanthemums emerge—not as sacred emblems, but as spores of toxic rebirth. The work does not move toward repair or reconciliation. Its climax is rot: the breakdown of binary orders and the slow emergence of something uncontained, illegible. Here, monstrosity is not corrected or disciplined. It is allowed to grow.
《扮装章鱼》是一部实验性动画,围绕一个混合生物展开——一只在白瓷浴室中扭动的猫—鼠—章鱼。这个空间并非中性的。冰冷的瓷砖与抛光表面构成了对立的环境,强制施行着清洁、封闭与规范的秩序。面对这套无菌逻辑,生物不断渗漏、抽搐、变形:肉身拒绝被收容,动作借自 voguing 与 Crip Walk——不是表演,而是破口。
随着对抗加剧,生物的形态开始碎裂。浴室的网格崩开,身体与墙面一同塌陷。卫生的逻辑被瓦解:尿液渗出,亮粉蔓延,烟雾盘踞在曾被预留给纯净的角落。亚洲视觉母题——原本作为装饰存在——被拖入腐败之中,不再被陈列,而是被污染。
在这些残骸之间,菊花生长出来——不再是神圣的象征,而是有毒重生的孢子。作品并不指向修复或和解,它的高潮是腐朽:二元秩序的瓦解,以及某种不受约束、难以辨认之物的缓慢生成。在这里,怪异不被矫正,也不被驯化——它被允许继续生长。
