The Ruined Map is a surreal film drifting between Chinese, Japanese, and English. It follows a Chinese man entangled in the circulation of Western pornography who, increasingly displaced and unmoored, eventually becomes a translator of pornographic films in Rotterdam.
Recurring images of bananas and Twinkies use humor, grotesque exaggeration, and bodily symbolism to challenge sexual stereotypes imposed on East Asian men. Through fractured narration, unstable subtitles, and mistranslation, the film brings displacement, dysphoria, loneliness, and desire to the surface.
Rather than offering a clear direction, The Ruined Map unfolds as an experimental cartography that resists arrival.
《燃烧的地图》是一部在中文、日语与英语之间漂流的超现实电影。影片讲述一名被卷入西方色情影像体系的中国男性，在不断加深的错位与失重中，最终于鹿特丹成为色情影片译者。
香蕉与 Twinkies 等反复出现的意象，以滑稽、怪诞而身体化的方式，拆解施加于东亚男性身上的性刻板印象。字幕、身体与误译彼此交错，使位移、性别不适、孤独与欲望逐渐浮现。
影片并不提供清晰方向，而是以碎片化叙事构成一幅拒绝抵达的实验性地图。
